From 6 April 2009, it will be possible to pay an extra six years of NICs, over and above those that can already be paid, to help boost the Basic State Pension entitlement. The criteria for paying these further contributions are:
* Your State Pension Age (SPA) must be between 6 April 2008 and 5 April 2015;
* You can only pay for missing years going back to 6 April 1975; and
* You must already have at least 20 qualifying years (including Home Responsibilities Protection) on your NIC record.
